Abstract: This article examines the participation of students from Novi Pazar—the political and cultural centre of the Bosniak community in Serbia—in the nationwide anti-corruption student movement. Marked by ethnic, religious, and identity divisions, as well as by the close intertwining of party networks and religious institutions, Novi Pazar provides a particularly relevant setting for examining living together (vivre-ensemble) in a society shaped by the legacy of the Yugoslav conflicts. Drawing on fieldwork and an analysis of the processes of collective identity formation and the movement’s repertoire of contention, the article explores how the mobilisation fostered new forms of cooperation between Bosniaks and Serbs, opening a space in which social, religious, and cultural diversity could be articulated through collective civic action. It argues that the movement temporarily reconfigured symbolic boundaries and contributed to rethinking the relationship between citizenship, identity, and democratic participation.
